About the Author
Rex Miller was a Professor of Industrial Technology at The State University of New York, College at Buffalo for over 35 years. He has taught on the technical school, high school, and college level for well over 40 years. He is the author or co-author of over 100 textbooks ranging from electronics to carpentry and sheet metal work. He has contributed more than 50 magazine articles over the years to technical publications. He is also the author of seven civil war regimental histories.

Mark Richard Miller finished his BS degree in New York and moved on to Ball State University, where he obtained a master’s degree and went to work in San Antonio. He taught in high school and went to graduate school in College Station, Texas, finishing a doctorate degree. He took a position at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas, where he now teaches in the Industrial Technology Department as a Professor and Department Chairman. He has co-authored seven books and contributed many articles to technical magazines. His hobbies include refinishing a 1970 Plymouth Super Bird and a 1971 Roadrunner. He is also interested in playing guitar, an interest he pursued while in college as the lead guitarist of a band called The Rude Boys.

An essential part of anyones hobbyists library

This is a fantastic primer and reference book for anyone who works with hand and power tools whether for wood or metal. In an easy to access format the author covers topics ranging from basic tool design and its use, to critical math skills used in any size shop. There is a chapter devoted to electrical trouble shooting of powered machines such as lathes and mills, to feeds and speeds used for various metals and bits. Questions about measuring objects are answered, clamping and securing work, cleaning and abrasives, and cutting tools. Each chapter has a review section with a test to aid in comprehension. This and the Machinery's Handbook are the two books I reach for to find the answers every time.

does the job

i love KH games. i own them all. i only bought guides for 358/2 and Dream Drop Distance. the first time i played 358/2 it was when i just came out. i blew through it piece of cake. once you play one kingdom hearts... the rest bow to your prowess. the guide did help my second trip a few years later (present time). you dont NEED it, but if you love collecting stuff... then you need it. guides on the internet only go so far. a physical copy is always better

Laurie Parsons, an award-winning radio reporter, has written on family issues for The Denver Post. She met Jeffrey Freed when he worked with her son, who has ADD, which inspired this book.

Jeffrey Freed, M.A.T., is an educational therapist and consultant whose work focuses on ADD and gifted children.

So much information in a non overwhelming way. I couldn't put it down.

One of those "Wow" books that everyone must read. To be honest I bought it because I know that some of my children are right brained learners and I wanted strategies to help them with their education (we homeschool but any parent would benifit from this book) and I missed the small print that said it was geared towards children with ADD/ADHD. As it turns out my one child who I mainly bought the book to help doesn't have either. However, instead of returning the book, I've kept it, read it, highlighted & underlined it. I've learned so much amazing information about ADD/ADHD & I've thoroughly enjoyed the research shared on how &when the brain develops how it affects learning, behavior, etc... & so much more. It's not that I was unknowledgeable in these areas nor that all the information presented was new to me but that the facts and research are so clearly put. There was so much useful information even for someone who doesn't have a child with ADD/ADHD.

This would be a great baby shower book to give to the expectant parents.

Outdated but thought provoking concepts

Recent researchers debunk the right brain/left brain theory, however a lot of the "visual learner" concepts make sense. As a mother with a gifted child who refuses to conform to typical learning methods and is very easily distracted, but not hyper, I have to at least give the visual concepts a try. The book was informative enough and still can be applied today. I read a large portion of it, but skipped over some parts as it was either irrelevant or repetitive. Overall, a decent book that will assist those who learn visually.

The problem with the education system. Is that works a certain way. And if the child doesn't or can't learn this way. He's a problem child. Many teachers and schools with problem child. Lump them together. Or used drugs as a quick and fast answer. Which doesn't work. The way they wanted. They look at the problem of the child doesn't or can learn. Instead of how he learns it.
This book tell of certain problem of how these child understand things. And why teachers believe learn done a certain way. Which leaves how many child lost, an forgotten. That never learn to reach they potential. Just because they learn differntly!

About the Author
Lorraine Wallace had two great passions growing up--riding horses and cooking. She became an expert in both. Moving to Middleburg, Virginia in the 1980s, she became a competitor on the amateur showjumping circuit and won awards on her horse, Strait Man. At the same time, she started her own extensive garden--growing vegetables, herbs, and fl owers. She developed an appreciation for organic ingredients and a deep love for cooking.

Wonderful recipes, easily adapted to suit the taste of your family's palate. A must-have book for the soup section.

Though I have only made a few of the recipes in this book, I must say, this cookbook has quickly replaced previous favorites in the soup section of my bookshelf. I find this book on my nightstand quite often, anxious for an opportunity to try another recipe in Lorraine's book.

As with any recipe, one should review the ingredients and techniques first. By no means are my changes intended to 'correct' the recipes, but rather to add my own flair and tastes to enhance what my family enjoys, like extra carrots!

For example, the Tortellini Meatball Soup was fabulous, though I made small changes such as replacing half the sausage with hamburger, and may consider cooking the meatballs first before adding them to the soup, instead of adding them raw, as called for in the recipe. Certainly, while they cook to proper temperature, they are a bit soft, and we simply prefer our meatballs a little more firm. Otherwise, this recipe is definitely a keeper, makes an attractive meal, and is well worthy of serving to company. Made it, ate it, loved it! Don't skimp, use the ingredients that are called for in the recipe.

Next up, the Chicken Garlic Straciatella. Excellent. I almost look forward to someone telling me that they don't feel well, just so I can present a batch of this soup. Don't fret - twenty garlic cloves is not too much. The only changes I made were to skip using the blender, and just crush the garlic instead of slicing it, prior to beginning the second step of the soup. One pound of spinach seemed a bit much, so I used less, half that amount would be just fine. Next time, I will add more carrots, and also a scoop of cooked seashell pasta. If you are unable to locate Pecorino cheese, Parmesan is a good replacement. Made it, ate it, loved it.

Next up - French Onion Soup, and then Beef Barley.

I can already tell, this cookbook will be dog-eared and tattered in no time. Thank you, Lorraine.

Mr Sunday's meals

This book should have been titled, "Mr Sunday's meals". The soup recipes are wonderful and so abundant with ingredients that there might be no need to consume anything else afterwards. Mrs Wallace's creativity astounds and satisfies this writer's taste buds. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed her "Salmon Chowder, Oxtail, Green Kale and Kielbasa, Pumpkin and Pear,and Chinese Chicken Noodle" soups. No wonder her husband, Chris Wallace is so full of vim, vigor and sharp-edged wit on his televised show. These soups are nutritious, delicious, and
energizing.

Soups galore. Recipes categorized for Fall, Winter,Spring,Summer, Friends and Family, Game Day favorites and even "Strong Families Start with Good Bones" -- a chapter on stocks:chicken broth, vegetable broth, light fish broth, rich beef broth.

Some Wallace family photos and biographical info is sprinkled among the recipes. Like spices and seasonings, these historical family tidbits enhance the book. "Mr. Sunday's Soups" is both practical, fun and easy to read. Kudos to the author/cook, Mrs Lorraine Wallace.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in good cooking and good food.

I continue to try new recipes from this book. I've tried all the winter soups and many of the spring soups. We've loved all of them. What I really like is that the ingredients are common ingredients. Fresh vegetables are in any supermarket with a produce section. I like simple and it has to be good tasting. I make everything we eat from scratch, because prepared foods are not good and contain too much sodium. The soups from this book are especially good and simple to make. The book is nicely done, great photos and wonderful little stories.

Great place to start and then some.

I'm a computer science student and we used this book for our class. It does a very good job of explaning what you need to know, and provided examples that actually work. If there was one thing I didn't like about the book is that they use their own header files, so you have to include them in with your projects, but a few of us, just took their all their C files and compiled them into one big header file, and it works great. Most book do this kind of thing so it wasn't any shock. I would recommend this book to anyone with a good C background, obviously you need to know C before trying to write the code, but you don't need to be advanced by any means.

This history of the experience of black women opens with an account of the life of Lucy Terry, who was brought as a slave to Deerfield, Massachusetts, when she was a child in about 1735. At 16, Terry wrote a poem, "Bars Fight," the first work of literature by a black American. Years later, married and free, Terry argued for the admission of her son to Williams College and, when a white man tried to take her family's land, she took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. Hine, Michigan State University American history professor, and Thompson, author of many books for juveniles, have worked together in various capacities on reference books, including Black Women in America (1992) and Facts On File Encyclopedia of Black Women in America (1997). Here they collaborate on a gracefully written survey of nearly four centuries of history, drawing on recent studies of black women's roles and experiences in different regions, industries, and eras. Hine and Thompson enliven their chronological narrative with individual women's stories; their themes across the centuries are involvement with community, education as a high priority, individual sense of worth and dignity (as a balance to community), and authentic triumph in the remarkable, creative ways that African American women have devised "to educate children, resist the oppression of slavery, support their churches, build hospitals, register voters, and get elected to the United States Senate." The book gives me the insights on African American women in history. These women were incredible in terms of courage and accomplishments. I was a bit tired of the amount of details this book has to offer.
